Although I find the idea of creating a tar straight onto the /dev/sdb1
partition a bit frightening, I can confirm that the reported issue
itself is present for situations like tar rf /tmp/test.tar /tmp/Sc
TAB TAB as well. Bash completion for tar cf /tmp/test.tar /tmp/Sc
TAB TAB works fine.

Booting with noquiet reveals dozend of mounts, the console is filled with:
kjournald starting. Commi interval 5 seconds
EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode.
The system has only 4 partitions, I have no idea what's going wrong,
Isee at least 12 mount-attempts.

I have an ACER Aspire 9410. This computer has an ATA DD (i'm sure i've
disassembled it) but when i try to install Ubuntu (any version even gusty TRIBE
X) it is recognised as an SCSI sda... The install works fine and everything
works fine after the install but
I'm not an official maintainer - I'm just another user. I tried to
answer your queries to the best of my knowledge. I believe Martin Pitt
is the r-m maintainer.

I no longer have machines that see the problem (they all use Ubuntu provided
drivers) so consequently (like you) I don't have
FWIW, works fine for me in edgy. Is this a regression?
