Same problem. Something that may help for resolving the bug : there was
no problem with the sound when using the Live CD (Ubuntu 7.04 i386) on
this computer, but the sound disappeared at the first boot on the
installed Ubuntu.

any reason the process get hang by something but it shouldn't. My work
on lightning-locales is almost finished and 20 language packs works on
21.

Is there any progress on this? This is something that I've kind of been
waiting for for a while now, too. After all, there is only *one* font
that looks good in the stock Emacs, and it's not even possible to use
that font in the rest of the system without making some configuration
changes

The keyboard actually works after a resume, but the screen remains blank.
I made a copy of dmesg right after resume, before reboot. so it should be
really fresh. I just did the dmesg command in blind.
Would be awesome if this could be squashed before official gutsy release

Wow finally got this working for my Asus F9s.
After all the different hacks - reverting to the current Alsa driver.
1.0.14-1ubuntu1
and editing /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base and adding the line:
options snd-hda-intel model=lenovo
at the end of the file

O.K,
I moved the bad file and everything sorted itself out. I ran a file
system check and everything looks fine the forums have a few tales
of woe involving broken list files for packages so perhaps someone
should look into that.

Ok, so obviously the problem is in libglib-perl.
I had a look at /var/lib/dpkg/info/libglib-perl.list and its got a fair
bit of crap in there (by crap I mean bad characters, random smatters of
bad data)

I am not sure that https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/125566 and this one
are not the same for the reasons outlined in that bug. There is a
recent problem with the way that video memory is being dealt with which
has changed for the gutsy release.

I got an image going to make this work.
Depends on the other python bug getting fixed in xenman as well. If I
patch both I can get it to boot. The restricted modules don't pull
over, but there is not a lot in there that I'm worried about.

With xserver-glx installed I can log in if I disable it by doing the
following for every single user:
mkdir -p ~/.config/xserver-xgl
touch ~/.config/xserver-xgl/disable

I've had exactly the same problem, however just found the solution:
In the Gusty Tribe 5 live installer, open a terminal:
$ sudo su
# rmmod forcedeth
# modprobe forcedeth msi=0 msix=0
# /etc/init.d/networking restart
Your network interfaces should come back up and actually work now :-)

Yann, right the gettext ubuntu change creates the issue. The desktop
files have the upstream translations so your suggestion would not work
correctly. Doing what the bug title suggest (change the Name= key)
