In Gutsy Beta, daily updated, I can reproduce the crash only when compiz
is enabled and gstreamer is configured to use xv output. Without compiz
or with compiz / non-xv output, visualization works fine. I also have an
Intel x3100 (GM965). As the x3100 has been blacklisted for compiz, this

Yeah, that's why I reported it initially as a gnome bug, because I thought, it
might be a problem of the gnome-wide proxy settings as both apt and evolution
don't work with the socks-proxy.
What accounts I use? Gmail and a university

Hi Chris. I run the command you said, but it didn't fix it. The screen
went blank after some 20 minutes (instead of the usual 10). Other thank
that it doesn't seem to break anything (my Screensaver menu is ok too,
Ross).

totem crashed with SIGSEGV in g_main_context_check()

I have definitely tried to set it up to connect to a secure LDAP server
in the past. Loading up kaddressbook has similar consequences - the
window does appear, but then it goes to maximum CPU usage and hangs.

I can confirm the problem on Gutsy beta while installing the Italian
language packages. The installer hangs on 87% with and without the
network connection.

Meanwhile I solved the problem temporarily this way: I booted from grub
using the older kernel and from there removed the new kernel using the
adept. So far it worked. Let's see if I'll get the next update.
