Maybe I should ad some info: the problem is that the filesystem doesn't
mount automaticaly from gnome when an usbstick with fat32 is plugged in.
Mount from de disk mount gnome-applet doesn't work either. I still can
mount it with the command sudo mount /dev/sda1 /media/sda1 but that is
too much
2.6.22-14 also exhibits this. It seems like it tends to happen if the
machine is left in suspend for an extensive period of time (i.e. more
than a few minutes).

I removed the 'quiet' and 'splash' options and now I see that linux-

This script is present in the /usr/bin/ directory. There were two primary

'restricted' drivers.. everything is fine with the 'vesa' drivers except

Gettin' in here, too. With both totem-xine and totem-gstreamer on a
x264-encoded MKV file. Haven't had a chance to try vlc (which has such
an annoying UI :-()

Oh, and now I still get the LCD turning off when idle, and what's worse is that
now if I don't do my no_automatic_changes=0 workaround, my brightness keys
don't work at all! What gives?

do work through /proc.

Okay, it turns out that the total-breakage was merely HAL breaking on
upgrade; this was fixed by rebooting.

I would like to confirm that this has happened to me as well. I was
copying to a degraded RAID5 (while it was rebuilding, and while it was
not) and both times experienced a hard freeze. I would like to do
further testing but since this is an important data volume I don't want
to mess around with

Hey guys,
I installed gutsy 4 days ago and did not have the black screen issue,
then today, after downloading some x and compiz updates (at least thats
what i remeber seeing in the update manager) i started to get these
black screens. I used tonget this on feisty, but i figured with the
amount
Last night, I booted both, Kubuntu Dapper Drake LiveCD and later,
Kubuntu Edgy Eft LiveCD. Both releases correctly identified my PCMCIA
hard drive (KINGSTON DP-PCM2/5GB, V2.11 B, max PIO2). I only had to add
entries to the /etc/fstab for it, run sudo mount -a and I had access to
the device.

yes on beta gutsy I still experience the problem described by nfinity if I
click on YES
and the crash is not usable
( a dpkg --configure -a was required )
