I can confirm this one, I'm using xubuntu on an AMD64. Furthermore, when
clicking cancel, the screen goes black, with only a cursor visible. The
system becomes unresponsive but all processes continue normally.

having in Bug #127772. With acpi=off I get the battery icon on my tray
(so the presence of the battery is now recognized), but no indication
that the system knows when it switches to/from battery or what the

When using Totem, occasionally it can't exit from fullscreen mode. The
best way I have been able to reproduce this consistently is by using
--fullscreen. This also happens when using vmplayer in full screen.
The application tries to exit but flicks back to full screen
The patch has been uploaded too late in the Gutsy development phase so
it will be released as a update after the Final Gutsy Release. This will
also give a chance to add a fix for the low permissions problem of the
/etc/qt3 folder.

With the 6.10 version of Ubuntu, I had to install a driver by myself (I
found a way on some forums in french)

The current Gutsy version is Java 1.6.0_03 (java 6u3) but it hasn't been
added yet to the feisty repositories. However it is possible to

'compiz --replace ' returns back with borders as normal
it is 'fusion-icon ' that comes back without borders. The output shown is
first of fusion-icon and then compiz --replace

Compiz-gnome was installed. Emerald not which was installed and used
when running Feisty. In Feisty the trevino repository was used. I'll

I notice the package installed a 2.6.22-12-rt kernel modules, but I'm running
2.6.22-14-generic kernel.

Hello! I've just done a fresh install of Ubuntu Gutsy, and I'm currently
quite pleased with how Compiz works.
(I had Gutsy before (re-installed after some hardware problems), but
Compiz didn't work very well, probably because of cruft accumulated
through upgrades all the way
Just reinstalled openoffice.org-writer from a different mirror to see if
that made a difference, and it doesn't. Also, oodraw, oocalc, oobase all
exhibit the same behaviour. :(

This might be a JAVA problem, rather than a compiz problem, perhaps
similar to bug #151021
Either way upgrading JAVA to the latest release shouldn't hurt... then
again, you never know with JAVA...

I'm running Xubuntu's daily build from yesterday, but it still says the
package could not be found... Have you tested it on a LiveCD or a fresh
install? (Or at least with multiverse disabled?)

Hmm I think you can also browse private photos on the web; the browser
might also have stored passwords etc.
As you said, browsers provide some options to e.g. cleanup after a web
session. I think a similar option might make sense at the desktop
level: erase my traces for this deskop session.

I observe the following error reported by kernel after upgrade to Gutsy.
I followed the advice of moving from asus_acpi to asus-laptop found in
bug #105935 (same issue, different laptop model) and now only observe
the one error of Error calling BSTS.
