I just made a fresh install of Gusty (v7.10) to a nw8240 laptop. The
GUI started by the Live CD had the wobbly windows distortion mentioned
above, but the text was still readable enough to complete installation.
Taking a cue from this thread in Ubuntu Forums...

I just saw this problem when upgrading feisty to gutsy. My problem
occurred because cfsd was not running at the time the postinst script
ran, so it hung while trying to stat64(/var/cfs). After starting cfsd
(/etc/init.d/cfsd start), the upgrade proceeded normally and ran to

To an end-user like me, it doesn't feel like an advantage with Time
Based Released, I feel like if everyone else can enjoy the latest
version of software, but I cannot.
But if it is true that Time Based Releases make it more stable, then I can

The ubiquity GUI might actually be 800, but this doesn't take into
effect the GNOME panels being both above and below, causing the GUI to

For what it's worth, this bug also seems to be the reason as to why some
users (including myself) have been unable to mount their NTFS volumes
after an upgrade to Gutsy, at least without manually removing the device
mappings made by evms during each boot. I presume that the reason why

1) enable forcenibble
2) preview in grey-scale mode. **works**
3) scan **works**

I did removed reference to autologin in the greeter_iface.c and moved
everything in ldm.c, with clear error message.
When some info is missing, I still get a flashing blank screen. We
should provide feedback to the user about the error, and maybe fallback
to greeter if there are
changed BIOS to parallel port setting to ECP. Now starting xsane as user
reports no devices available. Starting xsane as root takes about twice
as long to start, says there are no devices available, and then about
half a second later the scanner gives it's little wake up dance.
