I also experienced this bug and disabling powernow fixes it. I am not
sure that the bug is classified correctly, however. I found that it
happened with an nvidia card both with the proprietary and free drivers
and also with an ATI card with both proprietary and free drivers.

Addendum: Forgot to mention, that the display is a 1024x768.
I disabled compiz, only using DRI.
Only with the procedure described in [bug #151044 - I had some severe
problems getting the driver to work...] I can get X up and running -
once it runs, it is stable.

Hi also had this problem after upgrading from Gutsy to Hardy.
I already had the java packages installed and working prior to the
upgrade.

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear. I am running hardy, recently upgraded from
7.10. (upgrade vs fresh-install is what I mean to say).
I am unable to get the modules to install properly even after
reinstalling or trying to use module-assistant. Virtualbox worked fine
in 7.10, now it wont load in 8.04
The Xorg0.log.old ist the one (I asume) when the system crashes (cold boot)
The Xorg.0.log is the one after the next warm boot.

There seems to be no .crash file for this error. I have recreated the problem
many times but all I get is error messages inside Evolution saying that the
application quit unexpectedly.
I have provided a screenshot that shows this error message.
