nope I still have this. my wireless hotspot does not broadcast its SSID
so I have to manually enter it. In Gutsy I do it once and it

It seems to be another issue with the Flash 10beta2 plugin. Disabling
that fixes the problem. But the weird part is that adblock plus doesn't
even show any flash content on the PayPal home page! That Flash plugin
is causing more problems than its worth :( If only Flash and PulseAudio
could play
Hi, unfortunately before the reply I had already booted into recovery
mode and tried the fix xorg. I now have a higher resultion but still no
Nvidia driver. This is the latest xorg.conf, I will also enclose the
backup which I assume is the one prior to me running the recovery mode.

If you move the xorg.conf file to something like xorg.conf.backup so that no
xorg.conf file exists, then restart X, that is the same as not having an
xorg.conf file.

Same problem here, with an intel x3100 card (on a Samsung Q45).
Up to 8.04.1 (Kubuntu) I was able to use KDE4 'desktop effects' easily.
Also, sInce upgrading to 8.10 Alpha 3 (from 8.04.1), desktop effects are not
working, enabling them results in a mainly black, garbled screen.

I tried to install the 173.14.09 driver for a 9600 GT card on Hardy 64-bit with
EnvyNG 1.1.1.
The process was all right until next reboot, just a black screen. The driver

The problem is, I can not reproduce it, it was a unique phenomenon.
I removed a CD from the drive by pressing on the drives open button, the CD
came out, but the icon did not disappear. Normally, the icon disappears

Once freealut is updated, the next upload of openal-soft should probably
include a Breaks: libalut-dev ( [whatever version it's fixed in]) on
libopenal-dev, to help avoid inconsistent library installations, if
someone tries to upgrade only openal.

Currently ATI's proprietary driver doesn't work with the Xserver in
Intrepid.
You can only set the driver to ati and see if 3d acceleration works.

Hmm.. my problem with this kernel is:
Error 18 Selected cylinder exceeds maximum supported by bios
2-6-24-19 or earlyer no problem.

Trond: have you made sure the i8k module is loaded ? Try sudo lsmod |
grep i8k. If this returns nothing, then you don't have i8k loaded, so
try sudo modprobe i8k.
This ought to let i8kmon work. If so you can add i8k to the file
/etc/modules to have it loaded automatically every time.
