I use the latest official version: 8.04 on amd64

It is correct that I have only experienced it with Firefox, but thought
it might rely on something deeper in the system, so that's why I wrote
Gnome. But, yeah, it probably is a Firefox bug.

right, that's because the new gio uses a new mimeapps.list file to
specify associations and gnome-vfs doesn't use it, so only applications
using gio will get the change. reassigning to gnome-vfs, not sure if
gnome-vfs will be changed since applications are quickly being ported to
gio

I also don't see why providing the module would be a problem anyway.
It's open source and as long as the kernel changes are not breaking the
build of that module it should always be delivered with the new kernel.

Updated patch.
Since Intrepid's mythtv will likely be backported to Hardy, this updated
patch does not use the status_of_proc() function, which is only found in
Intrepid's (and beyond) LSB.

Please can someone confirm if this has been fixed in Intrepid testing?
In theory this patch should have been merged from Debian, however it is
not specifically mentioned in the package changelog.
