Confirmed in Ubuntu Hardy with both Sun Java (6_06) and OpenJDK (6_11)

Update to the previous message
I booted alpha5 and than I've done some test. For testing the suspend mode I've
log out and in the login screen (when I have 9 seconds before automatic
login) I've suspend my pc.
After that I came back without any problems.

I cannot say something about bug #261694, Kicker does not crash here.
It seems to work here: I logged in and out several times and all tray icons are
in place _except_ when my dcop server (silently) crashes. This however is a

I tested alpha-5 (desktop CD) of Kubuntu 8.10 today (completely new
intallation, no old /home partition or other baggage). The problem is
not solved. I noted all the steps I did during the installation:
1) Selected Norwegian Bokmål at the ISOLINUX menu during boot, and chose
«Installér
Which CD did you use for upgrading? Please run a verification of the CD, either
from the CD start menu, or using:
md5sum /dev/cdrom
The sum should match the one in the MDSUMS file on the download server.

I have added may user also to the various pulse groups like you
suggested but it didn't show any affect.
If I try to use multicast pulseaudio crashes very fast on the Receiver side and
I never heard a sound.
So at the moment it is not very stable and full of regressions for me.

I don't know if the KDE version of system-config-printer has the same
troubleshooting assistant as the GNOME version. If so it is probably in
the Help menu. Could you please go through the steps and attach its

[To summarize, brightness control for Amilo Li 2732 worked in Ubuntu 7.x
and stopped to work in Ubuntu 8.4 and the same appens to the Alpha of
8.10]
