After moving from Ubuntu 8.10 to Ubuntu 9.04, using the standard open
source driver, with Compiz enabled I no longer experience this bug on an

I can confirm that my touchpad has the same regression. (I was just about to
file a bug myself.)
I haven't tested the sound problem because the only thing I use sound for is
through wine with pulseaudio disabled, and that has enough problems of its own.

Works for me. Here is what my screen section looks like:
The patch worked for me: Sony Vaio SR19 with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470
with dual monitor.
