The previous report was inaccurate... when I went to shut down the
computer for the 6th time it hung gain. Since that hang I have not had a
successful shutdown w/o first running the command:

As per the reporter the patch on the upstream bug seems to fix the issue
and is confirmed by other testers. It seems that it needs pushing
upstream. Put together an upstream submission from the tested patch and
pushed to the driver maintainer. Also proposed for SRU to Hardy.

I have a very similar problem when using a samba share.
The remote folder is mounted via fstab. When Unix Entensions are
enabled, creating a new empty file via the nautilus context menu results
in thousands of new files (I haven't counted, I allways killed nautilus
