I've had the same problem with upgrading on a Compaq 7000 from the prior
Ubuntu version and it has the original hard disk drive. I reloaded from
a CD with V9.04 and got the same error. Reinstall the prior version and
it works fine.

I only have that problem when I made the upgrade from 8.04 to 8.10, however
this problem disappear qhen I made a fresh instalation.
With 9.04 was the same, the CD-ROM works fine, with the native and with
brasero. For precaution I only use Brasero.

Oh great, I have installed the package today, looks good so far. I will report
back in a few days, or when I get another freeze.
In the meantime, I have been running X without DRI, which worked, but had its
drawbacks, of course.

After testing again i must confirm that is not fixed. As i wrote my
comment to close this bug i did not saw that the wlan module were not
loaded. If the modules were not loaded the led will not blink but if
they were loaded the led is blinking.

By the way, I'm also attaching another patch that fixes a memory leak in
the pm-powersave patch (also sent upstream) that fixes a memory leak in
the pm-powersave patch; the leak is likely very slow so it wouldn't hurt

I debugged most of the problem here; it is indeed coming from the pm-
powersave patch, and there are a couple of related problems. First, the
patch adds a call to g_spawn_command_line_async() to run pm-powersave,

propose gnome-desktop-manager (GDM), if problem is low graphics mode.
Gnome-system-monitor is responsible for list of processes, as I
