In addition to ATLAS, I have found the machine crashes occasionally (not
nearly as predictably though) while compiling a kernel or running ACML-
GPU demos.
Jaunty latest kernel and CentOS 5.3 kernel both have the vulnerabilty,
while Fedora Core 11 does not. I've done further testing, and the
I forgot to add this before, but the xprobe error messages I mentioned
in the initial bug report are red herrings. The kernel crashes some
time after those error messages are generated.

The FFADO 2.0 rc2 seems to be in Karmic, but is quite useless as jack
(jack_firewire.so to be exact) isn't linked against it, and thus can't
be used. Perhaps also libjack0 (and probably the whole jack bundle)
should be synced from Debian, which seems to have a version of jack
linked against

I'm running KUbuntu 9.04 with KDE v4.2.4.
In all native KDE applications the menu item Help -- About KDE is quite big
when compared to the other items in the same menu.

Thank you all together for this Tip.
In the last 3 Month i only could work with maxcpus=1 or there would be a
freeze in less then 10 Min
Now i installed 185.18.14 (amd64 with 4cores)
Since 3 Days i am now able to work with all off my 4 cores without any
freeze
