Solution:
I too found this problem in my 9.10 install, so I did a little bit of
digging.
It seems that someone has renamed menu.lst with grub.cfg.
At least they kept grub.cfg in the same directory (/boot/grub).
So, if you're following these instructions:

Hi
I try again with 5 files, Ubuntu One seems to hang. When i click on the icon it
appears Mise à jour de 5 de 5 Fichiers (Updating 5 on 5 Files) but the
message stays and Ubuntu One doesn't finish the job. On the online interface
only 3 files are uploaded.
I attached the log files.
