I think the duplicate status is wrong, because in that bug the kernel doesn't
lock up. I'm not able to switch to another tty because my whole kernel freezes
and no key presses are registered any more.
Also, I don't have the freeze *when* plymouth is displaying the ubuntu logo but

I attempted this in a VirtualBox installation, with the results that

kernel to your Karmic system, and after your test, delete it.

For me this is a critical bug as it takes my machine down every day.
Some time after booting my machine every morning it is consumed by a
recursive explosion of reload and rsysklogd tasks.
The attached file shows the first 300 tasks as reported by 'ps auxf'. I
snaffled this as soon as possible
Wow!. I think i soved it.
I had installed 'htop' program that put another section 'System tools' in the
lateral menu. So i edited the menu and disable the programs in the 'system
menu'...in this case only 'htop' program and Voila!...now all my icons looks
fine in System - Administration

I'd just like to add that this is still happening after upgrading to
Karmic (kernel 2.6.31-19-generic). Can anyone give me any pointers on
how to gather more information? I'm attaching a couple of photos of the
errors displayed on the console, although it seems to be a different
error every time.

more then once.
To recreate, sort by another column and then click on the Package
column header, it will sort A Z, and then if you try to reverse to go
to Z A nothing

gnome-do crashes when
I am still having this problem. In my latest system updates, I got the
same failure. I then tried to complete uninstall samba-common and samba-
common-bin. The uninstall failed with the same error, as listed above.
