I do not have any sound in ALSA or Pulse Audio- firefox, rhythmbox,
movieplayer etc... I have maudio delta 2496 and it worked fine in Ubuntu Studio
Hardy LTS and it works out of the box in Ubuntu 64 Karmic- without the rt
kernel. I verified in Alsa player and the channels are not muted.

This dual-boot problem seems to be getting worse, not better, between
Alpha 2 and Alpha 3.
With Alpha 2, Windows XP worked whereas Windows 2000 would fail to boot.
Now with Alpha 3, Windows XP also fails to boot when Linux is added to

This error is most likely due to a failure on a previous install. It's
harmless, but if it's still an issue, then open a terminal and run:
$ sudo dpkg --configure -a
Then set status of this report to 'invalid' if it is not an issue anymore.

I think the args from the boot cmdline are supposed to be copied on the
installed system, either the ones before -- or the ones afterwards.
The installed system probably uses grub2 which you can configure in
/etc/default/grub; run update-grub to update the /boot/grub/grub.cfg
generated file

When I add kernel.hung_task_timeout_secs = 0 in my sysctl.conf, Most of the
time, I have small freeze from 1/2 seconds max...
But sometimes, I have a big freeze (need a reboot). The disk is new (and there
is no problem on it - checked before...)

I had restored the system in question (virtualbox hardy) to snapshot so I went
ahead and did the upgrade again, similar problems, however now a whole lot of
things are also missing from the panel.
