The patch is a backport from upstream trunk (2.3.x).
The correct fix would be to use apr_file_open() with APR_OS_DEFAULT
permissions instead of apr_file_mktemp() to create the temp file.
Unfortunately, I don't think I will have time to fix it in the next week
or so.

Result: The problem is still persistent with the same effect. But today
I also tested the copy process from another Ubuntu 9.10 to the 10.4

I am experiencing some poor performance with beta-1 in qemu-kvm (didn't have

Now that the freeze has been lifted I upgraded to the new -evdev.
Things don't work, but if I move 69-xserver-xorg-input-wacom.rules out
of the way and reboot, they work fine with -evdev. So I'd say those
rules need to be modified to not be picking up this panel still.

Get rid of plymouth and it will all go away. It sure has on the one
install on this same hardware that I Purged Plymouth on. That is the
only one of 10 installs of 10.04 that boots fast and

I'm duplicate Bug #542445 and I'm pretty sure that Bug #542438 is having
the same issue as us, but since this is my first bug report I'm afraid
to mark it as a duplicate. Bug #542438 seems to have a lot more
attachments for this issue.
