after installing Ubuntu for people in dual-boot, having more then 2
select lines (latest kernel+recovery) for Ubuntu (and Windows(tm) always
has only 1) really pisses them off.

Yes, I removed that. Empathy tried to log into facebook over and over
again, but did not succeed. Therefore, I thought it would never succeed
and filed the bug report, but left it running in the background. At some
point, much later, I wasn't paying attention to it, Empathy managed to
connect to
I had the same issue and I had to boot from a CD, mount the filesystem
and edit the fstab and comment out the usb entry. After that I was able
to boot.

I can confirm this on a Dell Studio 1555. I have tried with acpi=force
noapic (to fix Karmic's troubles with this laptop) just noapic and
neither of those.

Hi, apparently I have the same issue.
After installing 9.10 x86-64, my BT doesn't work anymore.
If I try using it installing blueman, it asks me to turn it on but nothing
happens.
If I right click on the greyed icon and choos Turn Bluetooth On, it doesn't

Lucid doesn't mount Nokia N900
as i've mentioned, there may be gtk 2.19 problems too, sadly my python
knowledge is too weak to sort any of these bugs out

I found that Samba was no longer installed, and after installing it
everything now seems to work properly, and no high cpu usage.

gvfs-mount doesn't always work. gvfsd-smb starts using 100% cpu.

Nautilus seems to remember where it last placed the icon for some
volumes. When a file (or another volume) already sits at that spot,
there's an overlap. This, however, does not seem to happen for all
volumes.

Omer, it's the same as bug 452067. Please mark as duplicate and here's the
fix/workaround:
Go to System-Preferences-Startup Applications and add a new entry for
empathy. The command is empathy.
