I encounter the problem when the guest OS is Windows 7, however with a
Windows XP guest the bug does not occur. Anyway this is a regression
from Karmic.

using the 640x480 VGA framebuffer. That this changes the resolution
used by the nvidia driver afterwards looks like a bug in the nvidia

I had this issue in Lucid and the fix for me was to comment out the last
line iface eth0 inet dhcp in /etc/network/interfaces and then reboot.
After that the nm-applet started to manage the wired interface and this
allowed the icon to be displayed. The way I found this was I miss the

I compiled both kernel 2.6.34-rc2 and 2.6.32.10 with make oldconfig based on
the linux-image-2.6.32-16, but that didn't help. It freezes about half the time

Miro 3.0-0pcf1 will not install without python-gnome2-extras so I installed
Miro 2.5.4-1 via Synaptic Package → Force Version and that worked because it

After my computer restarts, I chose Ubuntu from the boot menu. It was in
the midst of installation and reset.Subsequently when it tried to
install Ubuntu, error messages were displayed that it prompted that it
had previously been installed.

that this somehow corrupted the kernel module in use, effectively
