I've tested with the proposed mountall, both with and without the plymouth
change in my ppa.
I've noticed no distinct difference in speed or otherwise between the two cases.
So from a /strictly/ /superficial/ point of view, the plymouth patch
does not seem to change anything when it comes to
Kernel : 2.6.32-22-generic
Ubuntu 10.04
Laptop : Acer aspire 1680
ATI card 9700 mobility
Last comment :

Similar problem here, planned disk checks at boot get stuck into an
infinite loop on my T61. The progress % displayed on the boot screen (is
that what plymouth is?) keeps increasing but at a slower and slower
pace.
Hitting ESC shows the fsck output, and it keeps re-checking the same
partition
System psu died unfortunately, but pre and since replacement hasn't
occurred. I assume it is gone and certainly not an investigative
priority.

I confirm the bug on a Sony VPCCW2C5E with Synaptics touchpad V7.2.
Windows driver reports up to three fingers with Shift+Alt+i. Under
Lucid, synclient -m only one finger. Sometimes I experience some spazzy
pointer behavior.

Lock key auto-correct feature.

custom message that you may have saved with the same name or someone
else using your computer. please click on 'edit custom messages' a
window will open there select 'away' and then click remove :-)
