Hm, that didn't work , probably because you didn't provide a PID. I was
silly, since you're on Lubuntu, gnome-settings-daemon isn't running. So
start users-admin, get its PID using 'pidof users-admin', and replce
$PID with this value in the command.
BTW, you can paste command outputs directly

With Maverick, I am seeing that once my monitor starts to dim, after an
idle period, neither the mouse nor keyboard is able to cancel the
operation. I have to wait for the state transition to complete, and
then awaken the monitor and authenticate. But a further note is that
I'm sorry for confusing the issue. Looking closer at Git-Gui on the
other machines, it appears that aliasing is not the issue - They are all
aliased, but it looks much worse on one machine than on the others. I

Kubuntu Maverick alpha 2: as before, the Live CD boots to a black
screen. A small regression: when booted with nomodeset, X does not
come up in a low-graphics mode. Instead, after two attempts the

I SOLVED MY OWN PROBLEM!
I had this problem on Lucid as mentioned above and I solved it in 6
steps.
I purged 3rd party drive managers (eg. Storage Device Manager),
commented out all the NTFS lines in /etc/fstab, deleted all the
mountpoint folders in /media (eg. /media/sdx1), did a sudo blkid,

Although I do not intend to change to Lucid yet, I like to inform that
since approx. 2-3 weeks the reported bug also disappeared on my version.
I always continued doing updates for ubuntu 9.10 and I think it was
resolved after I got a bunch of updates inluding kernel
I ran sudo apt-get purge tomcat6 tomcat6-common and tomcat is still
running. There is nothing at /usr/share/tomcat6/bin or
/etc/init.d/tomcat6 , so I'am not sure what is going on. This is a

to previously stated. Strangely, the error occurs only some of the time.
It worked first time on an xvid .avi, but a second try on the same file

2.8.2-2ubuntu1), but since libabiword-2.8_2.8.2-2ubuntu1.1 is in lucid-
updates python-abiword can't be properly installed (at least with apt-
get).
Please update the dependency.

What I expected was additional questions about the type of problems this
is causing and how widespread the problem is. It is very difficult to
convince people to try Linux on the desktop. When there are additional
road-blocks such as this issue it becomes almost impossible.

It looks like CTRL + Drag does not work. I am wondering if this method
was difficult to make work cross platform. What I found works is to
hold down the CTRL key and double click in the gray icon bar area. This
will doc the window. Then you can drag it to another docable surface.

OK so this commit fixes pbuilder for Ubuntu chroots but its broken for
Debian... I've re-installed Lucid so I can do work in Debian chroots!
