Hi, I just downloaded a kubuntu 10.04.1 (desktop) live CD, and this
problem with the fonts is not happening again. The resolution is now
detected OK, both the i386 and AMD64 versions.

notice the upstream bug. As we and Launchpad are two sides of the same
coin, we all flip together and both the reporter and us have a
responsibility to work this out. As you noticed, the last upstream post

The patch applies to -0ubuntu2. I can adjust it to apply to whichever
version you want. The problem definitely existed with -0ubuntu1 as well
(and the previous 7.8.2 package).

It's working mostly for me again (Maverick 32 with all updates), but I
now find that if I use fast user switching and log in as, say, the guest
user, the wrong audio device is selected and the volume is again muted
and at 0%.
