I switched off Overlay Scrollbars for eclipse only using a small
workaround found (link below). I then ran the executable via the command
line, and when it started asked Unity to keep in launcher so that next
time I can fire it up the same way.
.ICEauthority and a few other files in the Home folder were owned by root.
I did not see the problem lately. It can be solved, if it reappears, by
changing the owner of everything in the Home folder to the user:
sudo chown user:user -R ~/*

rear jack is a line-in rather than a mic (according to BIOS - and then
the system configures it that way). But the front mic jack should work.

Tried your modified nvidia.conf from bug 771739. Restarted the system
and noticed options (internal mic, front mic, rear mic) previously
available at Maverick are back. Tested Sound Recorder with each one,
switching options on Sound Preferences and opening Sound Recorder at
each time.

banshee-extension-lirc depends on wrong liblircclient
adding my voice too, as i'm tested several distros, several releases
with their stock kernel AND newest too, so the menuentry is very
confusing: cant remember which is on /dev/sdx
So an easy way to make a more handy menuentry should be to add the
flag partition name set by user; its an easier way

I have 3200 x 1200 dual monitor setup and I also get this issue with the
stock ubuntu and ubuntu classic. However it does not occur using ubuntu
classic no effects and my user defined desktop (avant and synapse). The
latter has compiz enabled but does not have the Ubuntu unity plugin

Same here with NVIDIA Geforce Go 7300 on Natty. Driver activated but not in use.
Nevertheless, with the workaround to froce start of unity in /etc/environment
and the 173 I can use Unity 3D and it seems that the driver is in use.

I get this in unity in a fresh installation of natty under VirtualBox.
Ambiance loads and stays working for about five seconds, and then the
theme half-resets to what looks like Clearlooks. The title bars remain
as Ambiance. If I run the appearance manager, it thinks I have a custom
theme setting;
The implementation in Unity-2d conforms to what Unity does, so I suppose this
is by design (or lack of a more specific specification).

Adam, setting 'hide_mode' to 1 won’t disable auto-hide, it will actually
activate it. To fully disable autohide, you need to set 'hide_mode' to
0, and you also need to set the 'use_strut' to true:

linux /vmlinuz root=/dev/sda1 ro
initrd /initrd.img
boot
