I got similar problem, but the issue is with 100% height and width, but
using 2 monitors.

It looks like grub is being installed on the first found hard drive even
if it was originally on the second one.
I was able to reproduce this issue with the following VM (libvirt)
setup:
/dev/sda - unpartitioned hard drive, ide bus
/dev/sdb - msdos label, ide bus containing Ubuntu Lucid 10.04.1
It's OK now. I reverted to gnome2 classic and the problem has disappeared,
so I'm guessing that the real culprit is my old and seriously under-powered

good solution as this will deactivate the wired network (Ethernet)

Both bugs are caused by dontzap holding back python and in case of
769680, it removes gnome packages if kubuntu-desktop is installed. The
causes are the same.
