Sound now works, fixed using alsamixer after some experimenting.
There were four S/PDIF choices and the the one that worked 1 of 0,1,2,3
had inexplicably been changed to 0.
As I recall, the /etc/asound.conf was an attempt during original install
to get the audio working. It is
I got this error when installing the extra services when I initially set
up Ubuntu One. It's just happened, so not sure if it was a one-time
thing, or if I'll experience it again. Ubuntu One seems to be working
properly though, and did sync my files correctly.

I have Samsung Syncmaster 204Ts which worked fine with Ubuntu 10.04
using DVI connection. Since 10.10 the screen is blank with DVI

Evolution uses the gnome proxy settings as they were when you opened it.
Subsequent changes to settings do not seem to affect evolution as long
as it is open. Once you close Evolution, you must make the gnome proxy

the new maverick package 2.7.STABLE9-2ubuntu5.1 still has the problem that
squid is killed when the
resolvconf script is called, exactly as described in comment #7 above.
The maverick packages still has 'reload squid' in /etc/resolvconf/update-
libc.d/squid. This kills squid, so that it is not

Sorry if this isn't clear, I thought the bug title was - to rephrase
When a mimeapps.list line for inode/directory= is created it's using the entry
in /etc/gnome/defaults.list for the Default Association
Because that .desktop doesn't exist in some limited instances it will then use
the Added
Exactly the opposite of bug #766776.
