While waiting for a fix, the workaround below is working for me.
I have created a .desktop file in ~/.config/autostart/ with the field:
Exec=bash -c sleep 3 xfconf-query -v -c xfwm4 -p /general/workspace_count
-s 2
It simply resets the number of workspaces to 2 at every login. Just
replace 2

gnome-power-manager adds battery to indicator twice when battery
Yup, obviously my workaround isn't much help when you have two
interfaces. I suggest locally editing the ifup.d script, I don't think
restarting is an appropriate response for everyone.
Even better, work on improving cntlm :)
Sorry, I can't understand what your issue with config 2 is. Was the
Debian was not a great success, unfortunately. I was asked for some
proprietary driver when installing (which I don't have!), and now the
machine won't connect to my wireless network... So back to square one.
If I reinstall Ubuntu and stop running virtual machines it should work!

I agree with hhansen, this bug appears on a default Xubuntu/Ubuntu with
XFCE4 installation and Inkscape, and makes productive use impossible.
Every time a copy operation is used, 4 error messages pop up. Killing
xfce4-settings-helper is not an option as it impacts the working of the
XFCE4 Desktop.

10 minutes), it did restart wlan nicely!

I've noticed that if Ubuntu boots up a little slower, then all the users
appear on the login screen. If Ubuntu boots up faster, there's only the
one user on the login screen i.e. the user account created first during
Ubuntu installation.

Update: Running as root does not make it work, rather gives the root
system processes.
Userspace still barfs. The SELinus warning is not related to the bug
(It shows up on another Lucid system wherein the g-s-m works perfectly).

this is getting annoying. skipping around in a dvd movie crashes the
frontend quite consistently. is there a way to go back to a previous
version completely? never had this problem with 0.23. that only crashed
playing music. 0.24 is far less stable

It is NOT an update which solved this problem, it is the addition of a
package which was not in the suggested list in the tsclient package.
IT SHOULD BE LISTED AS A SUGGESTION! Otherwise people have no way of

Hi, I have the same issue on my Ubuntu 11.04 on ASUS U31F laptop
The problem is that my Ubuntu is 32bit and I don't have a /usr/lib32 directory
