No, if the guest plugs in his or her own USB flash memory then it should
be readable and writeable by the guest.
The problem is that the guest can read, write and erase the data on the system
if the disk partitions are mounted.
Disk partitions gets mounted in subdirectories of /media, and
I had the same problem.
In my understanding it is a matter of cached entries; that also explains why
using a different case in the directory name causes the lookup to fail, so the
directory get correctly mounted.

I could copy a folder from my davs server without any problems, this
didn't work a while back, resulting in said html-formatted file.
So, as I don't know about dav, the prbolem seems to be fix for davs in
ubuntu 11.10.

for an external usb hard drive would give disk checking errors at boot
in 10.11. nofail didn't change the behaviour, but nobootwait solved

I can confirm this bug, after updating from Ubuntu 10.04 to Ubuntu
11.10.
However, it seems that I have found a workaround.I have uninstalled
Evolution completely AND I have deleted its old folders:
~/.evolution
~/.cache/evolution
~/.local/share/evolution
After reinstalling Evolution, it has

Title:
After upgrading to the 11:10 distribution,
I agree with bug reporter at present there is no good way to manage any
open window.
It takes xtra steps to close one window when multiple windows are open.
Consider this:
1) I have 3 nautilus windows open.
2) I need to close one of the windows.
3) I click on nautilus icon in launher.
