If you use Unity then you appear to always get system-config-printer.
If you use gnome-shell (as I do) then you get some system settings item

I had a similar problem after upgrading natty-oneiric. Workaround by mike in
Comment #9 solved the problem for me.

I am running mint 12 with a slightly newer ubuntu kernel. this crash
does not happen with this kernel. if this is a kernel bug, it no longer
occurs with this kernel.

that I can't read them. mainline 3.2.0-rc4 and 3.2.0-999.201112030407
boot fine. Last working ubuntu kernel is 3.1.0-2 where I'm reporting
