this happened to me after updating the unity-greeter have to manually set
keyboard lang as it defaults to english,
it also doesn't show the login options, just logs you back into your last
session! ie: no ubuntu, unity, gnome , gnome fallback etc

I had the same issue in Ubuntu 11.10. FontForge version 20110225 works; the
older version 20100429 in the Ubuntu repository doesn’t. Aleksandr's workaround
worked for me.
1. Remove old FontForge.
2. Make sure that git and pythod-dev are installed.
3. Open a terminal window:
$ git clone
My original problem was that dkms didn't even try to build the modules.
If it does I an afraid you'll have to file a separate bug report for
your problem.

I acquired a usb stick from Vodafone with 8 GB, ever since then I tried
to use the stick on Ubuntu Oneiric Ocelot 32 Bits and 64 Bits. In both
cases I cannot see the device on Nautilus.
The syslog shows several lines like these:

If I press the power button or select turn off deom the K menu or right
click desktop it can take a very long time for KDE to respond. The time
dealy betweenpressing the power button and a response can be several
minutes and the menu is similar.

What I say is that this design is bogus !
Even on a 20 inch screen one cannot clearly see windows' contents in the
scale mode. Thus one must zoom in each window in turn, until he runs
into the right one. Now imagine their relative order changes
