I have reverted to the drivers 11.12 and then to 11.10 (currently using
it) and the behavior is the same. The problem is that I don't remember
if I had this problem before initially upgrading to 12.1 driver, or not.

I have been 'fighting' against this problem and the only way I found to
solve it was removing HyperSpace. The problem seems to be the quick
start method used for launching HyperSpace. Once removed, grub loads as
expected.

On my computer I still see this error message, for example when
upgrading my system (I have told my debconf I want to see a gtk window
instead of checkbox so upgrading uses the gtk. Don't ask me how I did
this, but the problem ocoours also when starting inkscape, as well.):

my atom n270 netbook, I just can't spare the cycles.
I've switched to lubuntu desktop. I like it it. I think Unity 3D is
nice, and it was quite usable even on my hardware. But

There is a new version
I seem to be having a similar problem, details are posted below
(shameless copy paste on gnome bug report I posted)
I'm not entirely sure how to do this, but I'll try my best to describe the
problem.

Hello all,
just to report that I'm currently using Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit on a 8760W
(model number LG760ET) with the ATI M5950 graphic card and I'm quite
happy with no particular issues after 3 days of heavy usage.
I'had only a really strange issue after the first installation. From the
Live CD all
Public bug reported:
Trying to run the Distribution upgrade from 10.10 to 11.04 (attached log
files)
I've removed all PPA's and uninstalled all programs associated
I've also ran computer Janitor to remove any non-official programs
Removed Nvidia proprietary driver
I keep getting the following
