I have some new information see attachment for logging.
It appears traffic gets routed outside and recieves a invalid responce,
version 1.5.6-2ubuntu2 handles this well, version 1.5.6-2ubuntu2.3 breaks.
If I block traffic to 169.254.169.254 with ip tables facter works again.

Every now and then my system hangs completely for about half a second (I

Bug confirmed. Here is a detailed description: The package
libexttextcat-data is available for upgrade. However the upgrade
suggests removal of several packages including libreoffice-core,
libreoffice-calc, libreofice-writer, etc. Upon proceeding further, it is
not possible to install any of these
Since this happens outside of Unity and has not gotten any attention,
I'm marking it as affecting Firefox (Ubuntu).

I've (had) this problem too and decided to give the solution by David
(#40) a shot.
It seems that this helped for me. I haven't had a lockup in the last 4
days/shutdowns! (Where previously i've had a lockup almost every
shutdown).
