Bugger I spoke too soon. It seems to have stopped working again.
I've now done as evrimfuruncu suggested and used rimap. it's far easier than
banging my head against the wall.

It's funny how the crashing stops when I really need it to crash. Well,

The reason they don't show up with nm is that SOGo and SOPE are written
in Objective-C. Objective-C has dynamic binding and methods are looked
up at runtime, so things work a bit different than with C/C++. If you
look at the nm output, you will only see symbols for the classes.

I have the same issue on an Asus UX21A (should be very similar to
Cristophes UX31A). These laptops have Intel Panther Point USB
controllers. So I doubt whether the problem is restricted to NEC
uPD720200 controllers.

unable to add new broadband connections in Unity
I'm trying Anton's suggestion of installing 3.6 now. I will report back
to confirm whether this solves the issue.
Anton, do you have a source for your statement? That may help people
identify the right changeset and maybe backport it to 3.5.
