I've worked around this by using a bind mount instead of a symlink.
Something like 'sudo mount --rbind /run/media/daboross/external/deja-
dup-cache ~/.cache/deja-dup' works. While I do have to re-do this every
time I mount the external drive and start a backup, it at least works.

Even if we don't have the kernel support in place yet I think Mir could
still do better.
What the user sees is:
Unknown command line options: --vt 1
What that means is:
A non-mesa-kms graphics driver was chosen (or none at all? can't tell). And
that's not even a bug at all if some working

What versions are you trying to install?
In a fresh installation of yakkety, both of biber and texlive-extra can be
installed fine for me:
nikos@ubuntu:/> cat /etc/lsb-release

DISTRIB_CODENAME=yakkety
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 16.10"
I have this exact same problem. I tried creating an empty metadata file so it
can write over it, but that didn't work.
I decided to symlink only the folder inside '.cache/deja-dup', the folder named
6724d3f170e0390931977a130c2b7632. I thought by leaving the deja-dup folder, it
will be able to
