Title:
Laptop
Public bug reported:
htpdate (as daemon) hangs during boot process. The cause seems to be the
inclusion of “www.ntp.br” in /etc/default/htpdate as:
HTP_SERVERS="www.pool.ntp.org www.ntp.br www.wikipedia.org".
‘ping www.ntp.br’ responds ok, but htpdate does not seem to handle it.
Example
I no longer have the network card in question and don't have a suitable
environment to test, sorry.

... and I can't reproduce the build failure, even when not enabling
-proposed (test on canonistack, s390x, adding the PPA to APT sources).
This is vexing.

What can we do to address these types of issues, without relying on 3rd

We already ship lib/systemd/system-sleep/hibinit-agent that does post
things in hibinit-resume to workaround things. Including stuff about
networking, due to previous issues with xen-netfront.
Given we already restart systemd-networkd, I wonder if we should do
better and not keep xen-netfront

Title:
Public bug reported:
Hello,
while compiling our software in a Ubuntu jammy docker image I noticed a
backward incompatibility issue in glibc 2.34-0ubuntu3. Our build fails
with:
ld.lld: error: undefined symbol: pthread_yield
>>> referenced by tlibthrd.cxx:1546 (ptlib/unix/tlibthrd.cxx:1546)
>>>
It looks like the fix for this in Focal landed together with the
security update in 2.4.7-1ubuntu2.20.04.2 (2.4.7-1ubuntu2.20.04.1
doesn't look like it ever got copied to focal-updates). I confirmed the
patch is still present in the current version in Focal
(2.4.7-1ubuntu2.20.04.3).
** Changed
Adding another log here, when attaching an Anker usb hub with
ax88179_178a. As can be seen at the end of the log, the link is
established and can function (i.e. ping, load web pages, etc.) despite
the two "Failed to read reg index" errors.
[44146.04] usb 3-8: new high-speed USB device number
The problem has stopped and the system is working correctly now. Please
close the bug report.

System is unusable (crashes) after screen
The version mismatch was the cause of a problem I had with `zfs
promote`: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zfs-
linux/+bug/1947568
In the end I'm using a 3rd party PPA to get updated user space tools but
I don't see that as the ideal solution.
