Same here. Never ran lucid. But I did not experience this bug the first
boot directly after a clean install from the Maverick Kubuntu DVD. I
have a laptop with switchable graphics (Intel + ATI), but I quickly
disabled the discrete card and blacklisted the driver. I also upgraded
to KDE 4.5.4 from
Any clues/updates on this?
Running Jaunty with kernel 2.6.28-11-generic now. Problem persists.

Public bug reported:
When trying to suspend my Asus A7Jc laptop, the computer shuts down LAN,
WLAN, hard drive etc. However the monitor is still on with a console
cursor blinking, power led is still on (i.e. not blinking as in
successful suspend) and the fans go very fast as in 100% cpu
