Still remains the issue about missing bubble notifications when
dnd_has_one_fullscreen_window fails to detect the fullscreen mode.
I think that it is important because the user could lost info about

I didn't know the method using software-properties-gtk (Additional
Drivers tab). When I search in google I don't see any useful reference
to this, so maybe it is not very aware for other users.
As you mention, I run this command after apt commands without restart.
Restarting solves the problem.
Fully updated quantal today (beta 2). This is still fully reproducible.

I get the same error uninstalling fglxr and running glxinfo, steps for
reproduce:
sudo apt-get purge xorg-driver-fglrx fglrx-*
sudo apt-get install --reinstall libgl1-mesa-glx libgl1-mesa-dri
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
sudo apt-get install --reinstall xserver-xorg-core
Then run:
glxinfo

Using FOSS ati driver (uninstalling fglrx) also produce crash. I try
running:
sudo apt-get purge xorg-driver-fglrx fglrx-*
sudo apt-get install --reinstall libgl1-mesa-glx libgl1-mesa-dri
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
sudo apt-get install --reinstall xserver-xorg-core
Then you get a crash
After uninstall fglrx is fully reproducible in quantal too for me.

ok, this happened to me: I was installed couchdb-bin package instead of
couchdb.
With only couchdb-bin package, I don't have the /etc/init.d/couchdb.
Installing and following your instructions I dont have any problem.
