This bug still hasn't been fixed 7 months later. I just switched to the
hwe kernel of 16.04 and I am likewise affected.
This may have been mentioned in upstream but the flickering happens only
when framebuffer hasn't changed. If you constantly move your mouse,
it'll stop.

I finaly found the reason.
The problem was related to the USB stick preparation.
On the USB stick I had the debian8netinstall.iso.
Then I used the unetbootin to write on the same USB stick the ubuntu
installation iso.
The files from the debian distribution were not erased.

I managed to get backtraces out of Konsole Plasma, excuse the poor
quality of them as I only remembered to log output after I started gdb.

(dis)connect external screens (eg. using same laptop at work home or
connecting the laptop to a TV to watch a movie) without shutting down

On the first reboot after installing qtdeclarative from the Wily PPA on
Vivid, I probably got lucky and managed to plug/unplug the external
monitor 4 times before the first crash (nvidia-340's xrandr also stopped
detecting changes for the next 2 topology changes at that point,
This has affected all Plasma 5 releases in Kubuntu since Utopic,
including the current backport of Plasma 5.3.
It reliably triggers a cascade of crashes in at least krunner, plasma
and kwin on every screen topology change, making for a very
disconcerting user experience.

after a long and educational session with quilt, I attach a refreshed
version of the debian/patches/dahdi_linux_extra file.
The only change I made was updating drivers/dahdi/zaphfc/base.c to r7 in
SVN (was r5). It contains two small changes - the first is an additional
header
Attaching a minimal version of the patch which can be applied after
dahdi_linux_extra, in case you prefer it in that form.
Also, disregard what I said about the header include, it actually seems
like a (minimal) fix for kernels 2.6.32.

I have installed xcdroast on Ubuntu 9.10 through Ubuntu software center and i
can't use it at all.
I also in first execution tried to tune it (as root) but it didn't start
(i was go in terminal, sudo xcdroast e.t.c.) and it returned me this
message:

After update to karmic, and enabling desktop effects, while playing
AisleRiot solitaire (Spider), I was suddenly logged out. After logging
in again, the crash report system notified that xorg had crashed. This
happened twice.
