I don't think this bug is related to X.org's ATI driver at all.
I followed some of the suggestions above, changing /etc/default/acpi-
support and editing Grub. The thing is, I tested everything in recovery
mode, before X.org ~and~ the radeon kernel module are loaded. I was only
able to suspend
I have the same problem on a Dell C640. Of course, the laptop has
several other ACPI problems that may be preventing the system from
overheating (See Bug #34155). The worst part is, the overheating
actually damaged my system's keyboard, killing the keys above the
hottest components.

I booted the new 2.6.22-13.40 kernel. It still hard locks on boot when
my Netgear MA401 is plugged in. Come on guys, Debian's 2.6.22 kernel
boots fine, which means one of the Ubuntu patches to Debian's kernel is
causing hard locks on some machines.

increase in battery life when I allowed it to apply its suggestions.
It's odd that the issue with Feisty cleared up right before its release
for me, but the final release is still causing trouble for you. I'm no

When a torrent file is launched from any browser, Deluge opens, but
fails to recognize that the user is opening a new file. I'm not sure if

I can't boot the 2.6.19 kernel on my machine. But after it freezes or
drops into busybox, my drive also makes a loud noise. I actually thought
it was one of my optical drives at first, but neither have a disc
loaded.
The idea of that sound coming from a HDD is a little frightening.
