IMHO we should check if this patch really works for gDesklets on ubuntu and
then pack up 0.36.4 (release often... ;) ).

using Ubuntu...
If so: please use our PPA to get a newer and working version of gDesklets:
As far as I remember the Imonc-gDesklets package (v0.6) provides 5
different Desklets (FTB, Gauges, SideCandy, SideCandy-XCon and
SideStripes). Which one did you try?
Some more information (like the log file) would be helpful, too.

gDesklets 0.36.3 has been released on January 23th, 2011.

FINALLY I figured out what caused all the flooding in the logs when
writing data to the plotter element.
In TargetPlotter.py the plotter element generates an SVG like this:

OK, this one has been bugging me too long now and it is still driving me
nuts ;).
AFAIK there IS a bug in the plotter element (TargetPlotter.py) that is throwing
the error message, but I just can't find it.
It is *heavily* flooding the log with one entry for every value you are adding

yes, I think I am using metacity without compositing.
And gDesklets does not support compositing yet (AFAIK).
Even worse: I think to remember that there were problems running gDesklets with
compositing on... :(.

Well, I cannot confirm this bug to be a general gDesklets bug as I am
using gDesklets on ubuntu intrepid without any errors.
So we need more information, like:
- what does using gDesklets pager exactly mean
- what desklets are you using and are ALL of them crashing when right clicking
on them

I really have no clue where this aurora thing is coming from. Obviously the
tiling module (or wallpaper.py) is looking for it, but there is no reason why
it should be doing so.
A simple grep -r aurora * in the gDesklets (code) directory doesn't show up

The clock Desklet you are using is looking for a Control named ITime with the

As far as I understand gDesklets just won't restart automatically after the
system is restarted/rebooted (meaning: no Autostart :) ).

As far as I know the PSI-desklets (as well as the LT-desklets) do not work with
newer version of gDesklets (and with newer I mean 0.33.x or 0.34.x and up).
These desklets are based on Sensors (either PSI sensors or LT sensors) and
