Whenever I get updates for tzdata it changes me from GMT+8 to PST.
These are not the same thing! Our production systems do not use DST.

I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 with default hardware configuration, and am
trying to hook it up to an NEC projector. It displays on the projector,
but it's in black and white... I can't quite understand why. Anyway, any
help would be appreciated.

Okay, so I got bored and was exploring... I think that when I downloaded
Authentication Properties to do an Active Directory installation it
somehow changed the file, resulting in this change (in the dbus file).
Basically, /etc/dbus-1/system.d/nm-applet.conf was disallowing access
for everyone but

So, when I login to Gusty (updated to the latest version, all that
stuff), nm-applet does not start. It started the first and second time
that I booted, but now it doesn't. I can't quite understand why... the
error when I try to start it manually (bellow) sounds like it's
I believe that the splash screen was removed in this version... the
desktop now loads so fast that it's really not even needed. If you still
want one, you can go to 'Applications - Add/Remove'. Make sure that
after Show: you have All Available Applications selected, and type in
'Splash'. The first

When installing Gusty on my Dell Inspiron E1505, Network-Admin will not
work with the wireless card. It's status remains on Preparing. I can,
however, connect to a wireless network by opening the terminal, and
running:
sudo iwconfig eth1 NETWORKNAME
dhclient eth1

I was two releases behind, so I did an upgrade from dapper to edgy,
which appeared to go flawlessly. Then I did an upgrade from edgy to
feisty, which broke as listed above, except that I only have python-
pythoncard installed (not python-clearsilver) and the target version is
0.8.1-3ubuntu1, not
Er, forget the nonsensical comment about the target version.
I meant to say the installed version of python-pythoncard was python-
pythoncard_0.8.1-8.1_all.deb, not python-pythoncard_0.8.1-7_all.deb.
