Ok I will have a look at home, but probably only from next week. What I
can say from daily work experience that stability improved, I didn't
have to go to airplane mode and back since quite a while now. But will
search the logs..
BTW, why did Patrik refer to Bluetooth firmware, was the last
I'm running Trusty since a while now, and I can say it doesn't occur so
often or isn't annoying so much anymore, but according to the logs it
still happens. Or is it something else?

I can confirm that just booting the latest kernel
(3.13.0-031300rc2-generic) is fixing this! Display is in normal

Reproducable, every time when I boot, I experience following:
- BIOS screen
- Screen turns purple (Ubuntu color)
- Screen turns black and backlight off (really black)
- GDM drumroll can be heard.
Simply pressing the hardware key increase backlight brings back the
backlight.

I wanted to try out TuxOnIce (2.6.31-19-generic-tuxonice

which was not a good idea.

For me, I installed Kubuntu Jaunty fresh with native ext4 and external
backup drive, also ext4. Actually it was because of a system crash in
which I lost my complete partition. So I want to have the backup-system

I've also been using the Karmic kernels on Jaunty (and the new nvidia
drivers) as suggested by martinm1000. Unfortunately, it seems to require
also updating the graphics drivers, in my case nvidia.
