Don't known if will help, but doing a
sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart
fixes the problem, of course, it's a pain in the ass to do that
everytime the system starts up.

I've exactly the same problem but I found that it only happens when I
start using a torrent software (tested with deluge and ktorrent). Then,
looking into the /var/log/kern.log I find tons of these message:

I've exactly the same problem. Here are attached the related log files.
The upgrade aborts now. Your system could be in an unusable state. A
recovery was run (dpkg --configure -a).
Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the
files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the
Public bug reported:
