I am experiencing the exact same problem. I've been running multi- monitor setup via the nvidia driver for a number of years, but with 11.10 things are trickier than usual to get working. Here is the relevant section of my xorg.conf file: Section Monitor # HorizSync source: edid, VertRefresh

I have exactly the same problem with installing Propriatary drivers + a nasty side effect. My screen goes into power save after about 10 min. of running Ubuntu 9.04. I assume this is a ACPI issue of some kind, was hoping to fix it with Nvidia's binary driver... but ran into the problem mentioned
