Look at comment #4. My fix isn't great, btw. You could still get a
buffer overflow. The correct solution would be to check the size of the
exec string
Still broken in Maverick however; the latest version of Synaptic in
those repositories is 0.63.1ubuntu14.
Maverick is supposed to be still supported, so it isn't nice to break it
in an update but not fix it also...

For me, with a Nvidia Quadro NVS 50 card, I have this bug with
suspend/hibernate the Nouveau video driver also, but these
suspend/hibernate functions also work perfectly with the VESA and NV
drivers on Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick. The NV driver is slower than Nouveau,
of course (ex: play an HD movie
Suspend/Hibernate don't work with Nouveau driver for me either.
GPU lockup message appears upon resume from suspend usually.
Resume from Hibernate yields garbage graphics display and lockup.

The problem here is that the
/usr/Brother/Printer/mfc440cn/cupswrapper/brcupsconfpt1 file is
returning a
*** stack smashing detected ***
error. There is a buffer overrun in the char media_command variable in
the brcupsconfig.c file. A quick (and rather bad) fix is to make the
array larger.
