Oh, thanks for the reminder! This was actually resolved around the 17.10
series if I remember correctly. The resolution was probably a proper
driver in the kernel for the device since the touchpad and other
modifier keys started working better at the same time.

I agree and I see another problem. I can only connect by dynamic IP
(DHCP) with it, because when I set the IP, netmask, gateway, DNS server,

KDE Network Manager in Intrepid is a huge step backwards!
I've tried Hardy and the last Intrepid with this chipset. Hardy only works
attaching a lot of parameters in the kernel starting line and yet if you try to
restart X or just switching to another terminal (Ctrl+Alt+F*) the screen hangs
just the same as the Erwin Michel picture. But I could

I have this problem too. I´m using an Athlon 64 3000+ with an ATI Radeon
9200, with ATI open source driver, and every time I try to start Ubuntu,
the black screen appears. To resolve this, I need to boot in Recovery
Mode, and reconfigure the xorg.conf. But, everytime time I do this
