Ugrading from Ubuntu 15.10 to 16.04 LTS
ProblemType: Package
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04
Package: squid3 3.5.12-1ubuntu7
ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-21.37-generic 4.4.6
Uname: Linux 4.4.0-21-generic i686

turning swap off before reboot
_OR_
sudo systemctl reboot
works without any issues, and I get an immediate reboot.

Disabling the local socket is pretty evil, ...
But it's disabled by default on a Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick installation.
I'm sure there must be some reasoning for disabling it, but it causes a (very
blatant) regression...
Does anybody know why it was disabled?

cups upstart post-start script
This bug was fixed in the package cups - 1.4.4-7
Not yet available in the Maverick updates... from what I could tell,
1.4.4-7 is scheduled for Natty.
It this update going to be pushed back into Maverick?

cups upstart post-start script hangs forever when local socket is disabled
But it's disabled by default on a Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick installation.
Sorry, my bad...
Socket creation is disabled on config used since Dapper... successive
upgrades haven't changed it.

I tried the proposed workaround in bug 672438, as pointed by ceylon, and
worked like a charm.
Let's wait and see what happens on the next update.

How can I debug why is this hanging? initctl and cupsd have no debug
options...

Hi Fabio
At the moment, I have the package installed.
The first time I tried the update with 'apt-get upgrade', it hung on 'cups
stop'. I killed the process, and apt continued, complaining it did not
install everything.
I then stopped cups manually, and tried the upgrade again. This time it
Forget my obviously lunatic ranting about cups...
The problem with cups is real, but not related to this bug.
Sorry

Just renamed my ~/.azureus profile, and Azureus started on the stop...
I'd debug this more, if I knew how. Any hints?
