Having done the tests referred to by Colin (and subsequent googling), I
can confirm that this is the same bug as that reported in #36461 in
xorg-server (Ubuntu) Xorg 7 has caused some serious problems for multi-
head users, particularly it seems for those using onboard integrated
graphics.

are handled sub-optimally. Having read through the test
schema, I can't see that the things to try would accomplish anything.
Nonetheless, I will go throught the steps in part I of that document,

Same result here using Shipit Ubuntu CDs.
The installer gives visual warning that a partition does not have a
mount point. Installer then refuses to allow the user to proceed without
entering a mount point for the partition.
This behaviour is not present in the old-style text-based installer.
