I agree. Apparently the only clue I get is that the active window has a
white center instead of an orange one. But if the window is small, that

Now that I've worked around https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/197209
(again!) I am getting reliable suspend/resume when I'm not docked When
I get back from vacation on Jan 1st I will be able to test suspend in
the dock again.

Considering the VT switch/suspend business in the log, this might be
related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/fglrx/+bug/197209
Why X is trying to suspend, of course, I have no idea.

[fglrx] X crashes when I click on desktop near right side [AMD Feature#7647]

The current status of this bug for me in Intrepid is that without my
scripts, resume works the first time and then fails the second time.
The failure manifests itself by showing me a blank screen. If I wait
long enough, X is restarted automatically; it appears to be on vt8
instead of vt7.
