Problem has not reoccurred since I lodged my comment on Launchpad on 16 
June. It had occurred several times over about a 2 week period befor then.
I run Update Manager regularly and I believe Firefox has been updated to 
version 5.0 since then.

I have version 10.3.181.34ubuntu0.11.04.1 of Flash
and 0.40ubuntu1 of Java-common

addons are
Better Privacy 1.51
Flash Video Downloader 2.0.24
Ubuntu Firefox Modifications 0.91
net-usage 1.2.323
Global Menu Integration Bar 1.0.6
